As I said in a previous post, glaucoma is a disease that causes damage to the optic nerve. To assess this damage, we have several tests.

The first is the visual field machine, in our case this is the HFA3 made by Zeiss.

The visual field is the extent we can see around us, our “peripheral vision”, and glaucoma reduces this. It is not really noticeable to us until there has been significant loss, so testing for it is necessary if we suspect glaucoma is present.

The test is quite simple, and quite fast, and the results are available immediately.

The software also allows us to compare results over time to see if there has been any change.

We combine these results with the OCT and visual examination of your optic nerve to determine if you have glaucoma.
